FRAGILE PLANET

AFG lends two artworks by famous South Korean artist Jeon Nak as part of the Fragile Planet concert at St James, on the narrative of sustainability and planet preservation, at an event where classical music and visual arts are aligned

AFG SPONSORS VOICE-VOUAÏE EXHIBITION AT THE GUERNSEY MUSEUM

AFG is the logistics sponsor of Voice-Vouaïe, an exhibition of photographs and audio interviews by Aaron Yeandle at the Guernsey Museum, celebrating Guernsey French and advocating for its preservation

CULTURAL DIPLOMACY FIELD TRIP TO CZECH REPUBLIC

David Ummels goes to Czech Republic for three days with half a dozen British curators, taking part in a field trip organised by the Czech Embassy, establishing key contacts with curators, museum directors and contemporary artists

MEETING WITH THE COSTA RICAN AMBASSADOR

Meeting with the Costa Rican Ambassador to the UK when he visits Guernsey, presentation of the William Le Lacheur project and the 18 football shirts celebrating the friendship between Guernsey and Costa Rica

INAUGURATION OF THE MURAL AT BLANCHELANDE COLLEGE

The entire school celebrates and embraces the inauguration of the mural, as part of the opening of the Art Centre. The ethos of Blanchelande is visually aligned on the walls and becomes a key part of the new evaluation and motivation system for the pupils

DIMITRI PERMIAKOV MOULIN HUET

AFG curates Moulin Huet, an exhibition of oil paintings by Dmitri Permiakov, at the Bella Luce Hotel, another resounding popular and commercial success, as the show ends up almost sold out

THE RENOIR WALK

AFG curates an outdoor art walk, displaying bespoke frames on the very spots where Renoir painted some of his masterpieces in Guernsey, with an original Renoir drawing and a collection of panels retracing his time on the island. Mr Sciama is our guest of honour and inaugurates the walk

An art exhibition showcasing the artworks of France Lemmon, inspired by her trip to Costa Rica following the tracks of William Le Lacheur

ART IN SCHOOL 2

Second exhibition showcasing 120 professionally curated artworks from children, amongst the masterpieces which inspired them. This year the curating line has an additional twist as some of the schoolchildren embrace the William Le Lacheur narrative, with AFG distributing a curriculum pack to all schools to celebrate his achievements through art projects

ART & FOOTBALL FESTIVAL

AFG, in collaboration with the Guernsey FA and the Sports Commission, organises a football festival where all the local schoolchildren who participated in the football shirt design competition can play in a tournament wearing one of the 18 winning shirts. There are hundreds of participants

WILLIAM LE LACHEUR-INSPIRED FOOTBALL SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION

AFG organises a football shirt design competition to celebrate the legacy of 19th-century seafarer William Le Lacheur, who introduced football to Costa Rica. The competition is open to all the local schools and hundreds of submissions are received. The theme is the best football shirt ever, with decorative features from Guernsey and Costa Rica. The 18 winning designs are printed on real football shirts and displayed like fine art on mannequins

DIMITRI PERMIAKOV WORKSHOP WITH THE WINNERS OF THE AFG RDS AWARDS

Dmitri Permiakov comes back to Guernsey to run a workshop specifically for the two winners of the AFG RDS scholarships, Molly and Jana, and to prepare his next exhibition and produce a body of work on Moulin Huet

LAUNCH OF THE ART PROJECT WITH CLIP AND LES NICOLLES PRISON

Innovative collaboration between AFG, Creative Learning in Prison and Les Nicolles Prison. For eight months, 45 inmates will prepare on a weekly basis, with the support of professional art teachers, their contribution to an exhibition of their artworks, branded ‘Double Window’ as it is an opportunity to send messages outside and take a look inside

IN SHAPE: FEELING BETTER THROUGH ART

AFG sponsors a film showcasing the collaboration between Arts For Impact and Styx on social prescribing, documenting key evidence on the success of the initiative and how positively impactful art activities are for people suffering from isolation or depression

INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED ARTIST DANIEL HOSEGO STARTS HIS RESIDENCY IN GUERNSEY

Daniel Hosego arrives from London and starts his residency in Guernsey. He will spend several weeks in spring and summer producing artworks capturing the literary legacy of Guernsey’s ultimate Renaissance man, Victor Hugo. Daniel will collaborate with Oleg Mikhailov on this project
