Jeon Nak is a Korean-born artist. His 3D trompe l’oeil creations achieve their arresting presence through a meticulous, exacting technical process. Layer upon layer of composition must be placed and processed to arrive at the level of detail seen in these works.
Nak’s works depict three-dimensional, imaginary spaces that morph and change, starting as one thing and becoming something else; the printing method allows the image to move and change with the angle of vision. The artist’s bold lines and complex geometries built on abstractions of real objects both intrigue and trick the eye. Some of his works recall the complicated circuits that drive our 21st-century world, whilst others are reminiscent of cosmological phenomena like supernovas or even suggest gateways to another world—one that only exists in the creative imagination. All contain a mastery of technique and a bold new vision that signal important works of contemporary art that should be experienced first-hand.
The artwork of Jeon Nak encourages the viewer to consider the immensity of the universe, its complex nature and the fluidity of change, alongside the relative fragility of our planet, whose uniqueness depends on water. The otherworldly nature of his images could represent one gazing into the far reaches of space or into the depths of our oceans and the underwater worlds we cannot see, whilst the shifting perspective of these artworks might reflect the changes we inflict on our planet.
The artist’s work has been featured in several exhibitions at key galleries and museums in New York and South Korea. Following their resounding success, artworks by this rising star of the New York ultra-contemporaryart scene are beginning to be available in Europe. Despite his burgeoning reputation Nak remains an elusivefigure, never appearing publicly and with no social media presence.

“The ‘Art for Guernsey’ initiative is enriching the Bailiwick community in several ways: bringing international artists to our shores to exhibit their work, holding community projects and workshops to inspire local artists and enthusiasts, and raising much needed funds for local charities. We are delighted to continue our support of it.”
