Open exhibition Friday 28 July – 02 September 2023
Art for Guernsey invites you to join us for the private view of ‘Flashlight’, an exhibition of artworks by our latest artist in residence, Andrew McAttee.
Andrew’s work draws influence from a wide variety of sources including graffiti art, comic book graphics, pop art and abstract expressionism. His artworks have a strong sense of movement and vitality, teeming with clusters of synthetic species bursting into life. Andrew was captivated by Sark’s night skies, the timelessness of Guernsey’s landscapes and the riot of colour on its beaches, with rock formations which brought to mind possible universes. Andrew described his visit as “a true bombardment of the senses” that transported him to the innocence of childhood, and it will be fascinating to see the artworks inspired by his experience.
